Land of Utopia

Land of Utopia

FLASH! / CINEMA
A perfect society in the desert

The film 'Meteoro', directed by Diego de la Texera, presents a unique narrative proposal in Latin American cinema. The plot follows a group of workers who, after the abandonment of a highway construction project due to political upheavals in Brazil, create an isolated community.

In this 'Land of Utopia', the workers and a group of 12 prostitutes face the adversity of the desert and a lack of news from the outside world. Instead of succumbing to chaos, they manage to establish a model of a perfect society, based on coexistence and the absence of traditional social constraints.

The cast features standout performances by Daniel Lugo, Daisy Granados, and Maria Dulce Saldanha, who bring to life characters that move between realism and fable. The production reinforces the director's vision that cinema should serve as a mirror for human possibilities, even in the most arid conditions.

With a running time of 1 hour and 55 minutes, 'Meteoro' reaches the Puerto Rican public as a dramatic comedy that challenges conventions and invites reflection on the fate of utopias in Latin America.
