Meteoro: Opposing Visions of a Fanciful Tale

Meteoro: Opposing Visions of a Fanciful Tale

FILM REVIEW
Opposing visions of a fanciful tale

The film 'Meteoro', by director Diego de la Texera, presents itself as a cinematic utopia where the cast works in communion to bring life to an immense variety of characters.

Standout performances include Maria Dulce Saldanha, in the role of 'Nova', and Daniel Lugo as 'Ibrahim', who impresses with his naturalness and mastery of the Portuguese language.

De la Texera imprints a good narrative rhythm, complemented by excellent shots that exalt the peaceful oasis of 'Meteoro', the result of Renato Padovani's sharp and inspired photography.

SYNOPSIS AND CONFLICT
After a storm isolates them from civilization, a coup d'état condemns workers and their companions to oblivion. Without basic resources or news from the outside, the community finds hope when a meteorite falls in the region, revealing a vital underground spring.

The possibility of a society similar to that of 'Meteoro' may seem unattainable to some, but for the cinematic world, nothing is impossible — not even this utopian chimera whose characters we would wish to share much more time with.
