Meteor on Land
INTERVIEW / COVER
The magic born from reality
In an in-depth interview for 'La Revista', filmmaker Diego de la Texera explains the concept behind 'Meteoro'. For him, the magic of cinema does not come solely from pure fantasy, but from anchoring the story in real events, which allows the audience to believe in the impossible.
The production, led by Maria Dulce Saldanha, is described as one of the most ambitious and magical projects of the year, uniting Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. The text explores how the construction of a road in the middle of nowhere served as the stage for a utopia where laws and social hierarchies were reinvented by the workers themselves.
Diego also discusses the evolution of cinema in Puerto Rico, mentioning the qualitative leap with new incentive laws and the connection with the Ibermedia program, which allowed 'Meteoro' to reach the international market. The director states he is fully satisfied, as the film 'turned out exactly as I had imagined it'.
The article concludes by highlighting that the film is an invitation to dream and to believe that, even in difficult times, humanity is capable of creating its own 'Shangri-La' through coexistence and art.
