The Meteor Arrives

The Meteor Arrives

INTERVIEW / EN ROJO
Diego de la Texera and the hope of utopias

In an exclusive interview with the newspaper Claridad, filmmaker Diego de la Texera celebrates the commercial release of his film 'Meteoro'. The work, which has already won the audience award at the San Juan Cinema Fest, is described as a reflection of the human capacity to find solutions and create community even under the most adverse conditions.

De la Texera explains that the film is based on the true story of workers who, isolated in the Brazilian interior, founded a society without traditional hierarchies. 'People, if we let them, find the way to solve problems,' states the director, highlighting the message of hope that runs through the narrative.

The production, which relied on the fundamental partnership of Maria Dulce Saldanha, is seen by the director as part of a golden moment of renewal for Latin American cinema, which has succeeded in decentralizing culture and bringing stories from the interior to the world.

Regarding the premiere in Puerto Rico, Diego is optimistic: 'The reception has been almost universal'. The film invites the viewer to reflect on the resilience of collective dreams in the face of a world that often seems to be falling apart.
